Place Value and Face Value

Place value and Face value:

Face value is the actual value of the digit. It remains the same for the digit even when the position of the digit is changed

For Example;

In the number 456, the "5" has a face value of 5.

and In the number 576, the "5" has a face value of 5.

even when the digit 5 is at tens place in 456 and the digit 5 is at hundreds place in 576.

Now let us see the face value of the digits in the number 165

Place Value is calculated as position of the digit  times its face value.

For Example:

In the number 456, the "5" is at tens position so the place value will be 5 X10 = 50. So "5" has a place value of 50.

and In the number 576, the "5" is at hundreds position so the place value will be 5 X100 = 500. So "5" has a place value of 500.

Now let us see the place value of the digits in the number 351
